The new Rx set-up consists of a head unit built into some copper fittings similar to the one seen above, but now with SMT components inside a 10mm to 8mm copper reducer with a end cap at both ends. If you look at the front view of the new Rx you can see a magnified picture of the front of the new head. The mirror was found at a car boot sale for just £1 !. It is 10.5" across and 1.5" deep it does have some silvering missing but not enough to worry about. To see a circuit on which I've based my Rx click here (I did leave out the filter though) . As to the Tx that was built around a home made beam expander which was built out of 2" square ally and a few lens. The CW side of things was the G0MRF circuit and the voice system was built using this circuit. Both Rx and Tx are tripod mounted with the Tx on the heavier tripod for stability. The whole set-up has worked very well so far over a 22km path and it is hoped to extend this over the next few months.
